A piano is a precision instrument and often a family heirloom. Moving it correctly is non-negotiable. Piepho Moving & Storage has moved pianos throughout Linden Hills, Kenwood, and the lake neighborhoods of Minneapolis for over 70 years, handling everything from narrow century-home staircases to careful placement in downtown high-rises.
Every piano is unique, with its own structure, balance, and handling needs. Piepho Movers brings the right expertise and equipment for any model, from compact spinets to nine-foot concert grands.
Legs, lyre, and music rack removed and wrapped, then the body secured on a padded piano board for a scratch-free move to a Minneapolis home or venue.
Custom dollies and piano-specific straps keep top-heavy uprights stable through tight stairwells and narrow hallways.
Custom, shock-absorbent crates for high-value or antique instruments, with door-to-door logistics through our Allied Van Lines network.
Climate-controlled storage at our Minnesota warehouse, padded and protected until you're ready for delivery.

Coordinated relocations for schools, campuses, and institutional facilities that require phased scheduling around academic calendars.
Minneapolis has a piano culture worth understanding before you hire a mover. From MacPhail Center for Music to historic homes in Linden Hills and Kenwood, many local moves involve valuable instruments, tight staircases, hardwood floors, and challenging access.
Piepho also provides piano moving throughout St. Paul, Edina, Bloomington, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Maple Grove, Wayzata, and Eden Prairie. Whether you’re moving a piano to a historic home, suburban residence, or downtown high-rise, we plan around the property and instrument.
Whether your piano is headed to a historic Linden Hills bungalow, a Kenwood estate, a North Loop loft, or a downtown condo, we plan the move around the property’s actual layout. Our team considers stairs, doorways, elevators, flooring, and access points before moving day to help protect both the instrument and the property.
We also provide specialized piano and furniture moving for music schools, performance venues, churches, offices, and other Minneapolis locations where valuable instruments and furnishings require careful planning. From residential piano moves to complex commercial placements, our experienced movers handle each item according to its size, weight, value, and destination.
Your move is coordinated by a dedicated local team, not routed through a national call center.
Piepho Moving & Storage has been family-owned and operated in Minnesota since 1952. Your piano move is handled by a dedicated local crew who knows Minneapolis’s homes and buildings.
Every crew member who handles a piano move is trained specifically in piano handling, from balance and weight distribution to protecting finish and internal mechanics. We are not general movers who occasionally take on pianos.
Choose full-service packing or handle preparation yourself. Combine your piano move with a full household relocation, or book a piano-only move.
Custom dollies, heavy-duty padding, and specialized lifting equipment for moves across Minneapolis.
Custom crating provides a rigid, cushioned enclosure for antique or high-value pianos on long-distance and international moves.
